I've Got The Power
There has been a lot of talk about “The Secret” and the Law of Attraction in the media lately. I imagine that many of you who have purchased the book and watched the video are thinking about the concepts. I also think that there are quite a few of you that think it is all hogwash. For me, my thoughts correlate specifically to what I am experiencing.
When I thought I was only worthy of jerks in my life…I attracted jerks. My parents can attest to some of the jerks I fell in ‘love’ with. Funny, as I look back even if a ‘good guy’ came into my life, I took actions that pushed him away. I would blame him, but truly it was me and my ‘stinking thinking.’
I look back and see how what I was thinking created what I was receiving. I also see the times when I had a used my power to manifest what I wanted. Once upon a time, after doing some work on myself, I decided I was ready for a great guy in my life. Shortly thereafter, I met my future husband (we have been married for 23 years). The times I decided to dedicate myself to make money for the company I worked with I did, fairly easily. The times I pictured myself wearing something special, I found myself finding exactly what I wanted, usually on sale.
I created, and continue to create, what I want in my life - both the good and the bad. Over the last several years I’ve sought to master my thoughts so that I can be more pro active in my life. This process has required lots of support from coaches, authors, friends and support groups. I have had to be willing to have the courage to change old beliefs and thought patterns. It has taken a tremendous amount of courage on my part. I have exposed my deepest fears and beliefs to people who think and behave a different way and in that process I have changed. I have become more powerful, more confident and more aware of my value and worth.
What does this mean to you, the employer, the leader, the business owner or student? It means that each and every one of us hasn’t begun to experience the full depth of our own power. You have the ability to ask for what you want, receive it and then ask for more. I know that when I feel negative, it is usually because I am having a bad thought, a thought that is not supporting me or making me feel powerful. In the past I thought that was how it was and to accept it, now I know that I have the power to change that thought, instantaneously, to a thought that makes me stronger, more powerful, more confident and positive.
This month I’ll share some of the techniques and kick butt actions that I use to change my thoughts and receive what I want, the benefits of powerful, confident, positive thoughts.
By the way, I don’t do touch feely, I am interested in actions and activities that are productive, profitable, pleasing and fun. Why? Because, “I’ve Got The Power!”

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.
~Frederick Douglass
Power can be taken, but not given. The process of the taking is empowerment in itself.

Try-its:
Identify five actions that make you happy or joyous. Here are some of my things (yes, I know some are corny):- Listening to 50's or disco music
- Walking my dog and singing
- Meditating and praying
- Listening to my husband’s corny jokes
- Going to the beach and watching dolphins play
Once you have your five actions:- Write them down and carry the list in your wallet, post them on your mirror, near your bed and on your phone.
- When you start having a negative thought, or notice that you had a thought that made you angry, depressed, sad, frustrated, or just made you feel bad do the following
- Read the card
- Choose one of the five actions
- Either do the action or think about the action. Relive the experience
- Notice that you changed your thought
- Notice that you changed your state of emotion
- Change to a more abundant, prosperous or loving thought
- Thank yourself for taking action

Kick-butt actions:
If you are a woman, minority, or someone who feels that “THEY” are holding you back. STOP! No one can hold you back without your consent!
Ask yourself the following:- On a daily basis, do you think of yourself as talented, strong, smart, valuable, worthwhile and professional? If there is the slightest doubt, read my newsletters, get my books and start changing your thoughts.
- Have you asked for a 20% raise every year? GQ wrote an article for men sharing that is what they should do. It got me thinking….how many woman’s magazine’s write the same thing? Ask, believe and ask again. Make sure you know what you bring to the table. If you don’t know how to evaluate what you bring to the table write me at info@pegine.com for my worksheet.
- Do you dress the part of a high earning, successful, high level professional in your industry? Do you know what a high earning, successful, high level professional in your industry wears? Watch, ask and listen to learn where these people shop. Go to the stores and try the clothes on. If your budget will not allow those clothes, find similar clothing on sale. If necessary, get them tailored so they are perfect for you. High earning, successful, high level professionals have learned to play the game. Play the game!
- It doesn’t matter whether you are an artist, writer, government worker or in sales. Someone in your world is a high earning, successful, high level professional who is happy, balanced and in a loving relationship. Find them, learn from them and let them be your role model. And by the way…no one is perfect. Forgive their mistakes, focus on their positive attributes.
- It doesn’t matter what the color of our skin is, our gender, our family’s origin or our past. What matters is what we are thinking, doing, and who are associating with right now! If you find that your thoughts, actions and the people you associate with aren’t getting you what you really want, it is time to change. We have more than enough role models of people who have experienced far worse than us, were abused more than us, faced more racism than us, and suffered more than us and overcame all of that to be powerful and prosperous, abundant in joy, love, health and wealth. The difference is that they chose to think and act differently so that they could have a new, better and more rewarding life.

Have You?- Said “no, thank you” when you did not want to do something
- Called the person who keeps popping up in your mind
- Talked to your neighbor at least once this week
- Sent money to someone
- Sent kisses to your hubby, kids, wife, mom, dad or grandparents?
