Try-its:

Follow these tips next time you are going to present.

Before:

Go to a quiet room about 15 minutes before you are going to present.

Stretch your body as though you are going to work out.

Make sounds with your voice first low – like a 50’s do wop bass singer. Then slowly go higher.

Make silly faces with your mouth and eyes.

Stick your tongue out and wiggle it around.

Close your eyes and breathe deep and affirm to yourself that you are there to serve the audiences.

That your purpose is to help them be them better with the information your are imparting.

During

Mentally break the room into quadrants. Make sure you have eye contact with at least one person in each quadrant. Keep your eyes connected until you finish your thought. Then move your eyes to the next person in the next quadrant.

This gives the audience the opportunity to connect with you.

Breathe.

Speak slowly – not too slow though and smile at the audience.

After

When you are finished. Do not move off the stage until you count

People need a few moments to appreciate the program and that it has ended. Accept their applause and then walk off.

Go back to your quiet place and have an attitude of gratitude for being able to do your program.

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received about presentations came from my sister in law Dr. Patti Peeples. She is a PhD in pharmacology and presents all over the world on quality of life issues. She shared her tip to prepare for her speech. When putting together her presentations she uses a simple procedure that reaps big rewards.

I’ve incorporated this in my own presentations and it has made a big impact on the quality of my presentations over the last few years.
