Title: Change is good!
©Pegine Echevarria, MSW 2003
Date: September 03 Volume 4 Issue 3

Change is good. I’ve been involved with several groups lately that have experienced major changes. Some have included changes in command, changes in staffing, changes in product and changes in a business focus. There have been grumbles, people who have said they are moving on, others who have talked about walking out. Reactions have run the gamut, anger and upset, to nonchalance and indifference. Whatever situation you are in it is critical that you understand how you can support yourself and others through the experience.

I’m excited to announce that at the end of October I will have the most amazing demo and promotional kit. If you book speakers or if you or someone you know is on a committee to bring in a speaker PLEASE allow me to send you this amazing kit! Email me at info@pegine.com

Thanks
Pegine

Pegine’s Thought of the Month:

Change is rejuvenation. It is the time that you experience your strengths when your weaknesses appear. You have a choice - strengthen the positive and get rid of the negative - or keep on keeping on the way you were. It’s your choice.

Quotes of the Month:

Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.
Anais Nin

They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.
Andy Warhol

I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it.
Pablo Picasso:

Try-its:

1. Name two major changes in your life. How did you handle them? What did you learn? What strengths did you develop?
2. Name two ways that you can make the current change in your life work for you.
3. Choose to make it work for you.

*******
Kick-butt actions:
1. Ever notice that when people gather and start gossiping that everyone agrees with what is going on but very few have the courage or the desire to do something about it. If you are unwilling to take an action and are just speaking to fit in, keep quiet. Talking doesn’t help your reputation when you are just trying to fit in. If anything, you can develop a reputation of “all talk and no action.” Beware of gossip and group bashing you may be the one who gets hurt.
2. Life is too short for political intrigue. You may perceive that people are trying to topple you and you may feel the negative energy around you however how YOU handle the situation is critical to your success. Here are three things that you must think about before you get sucked into the drama surrounding you:
A. From an ethical perspective what do you believe about the situation? What counsel would you offer a young person in a similar situation?
B. Intuitively what is your gut saying about the situation? Focus on your gut – not your fear. Take the time to identify what your intuition is telling you to do.
C. Seek counsel from four different sources.
1. Your partner (husband, wife, life partner)
2. a senior level mentor – someone who has been around for a while (not necessarily in your industry),
3. an in house advisor – someone you trust,
4. And your professional association contact – someone who knows your industry but is not part of your business.
Get the different perspectives and then decide.

Pegine is described by magazines as one of the nation’s top motivational success and leadership experts with business and team building experience! Her teambuilding and motivational programs include real business strategies with … a comic twist. Companies use her to motivate people, develop strong leaders & teams, and increase productivity. Her appearances on CNN, MSNBC, and major networks are always on target and energetic. A stand up comic she performs wacky improvisations about life and business.
